The regular club meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month (except July and August). Please note that we have a NEW LOCATION for our monthly meetings. . We will be meeting at Bellvue Community Hall. Easy access via the Wayne Gretzky Freeway, take the off ramp at 112th Avenue. The building is on the North side of 112th Avenue and 73rd Street, grey in color, enter by the front door of Bellvue Community Hall .

Membership

The Northern Alberta cage bird society is a Edmonton based non-profit organization consisting of local breeders / fanciers and pet bird owners from all accross Alberta. The members have an interest in all varieties of cage birds from finches to hookbills . We are one of the many affiliates of the AACC (Avicultural Advancement Council of Canada).

Membership is open to all individuals with an interest in the care and/or breeding of cage birds.
We try to maintain a fun and informal atmosphere within the scope of our common interests
Our focus is education through the exchange of information from within and outside the society.
The incouragement of Conservation through breeding programs that make use of closed leg bands and registry with the AACC, which is the only national band registry for cage birds in Canada
We maintain an active library as a membership resource
A monthly newsletter (except July and August) is passed on to all members
Two shows are held each year. The first is the BBQ and Baby show in June for club members and marks an end to the regular season. The second is in October which is a 3 day open show which involves the the exhibition and judging of cage birds. It is open to the public and includes exhibition, seminars, sales and raffles. The intent is for it to be a fun time for all attending.
We also maintain a website to keep members and others informed about the society.
The annual fees are ($25.00) for the year.

Recommended Ring Sizes

To use our ring service you must be a member of the NACBS (current membership is just $25.00 yearly).

We have on hand supplies of closed year dated anodized aluminum rings (leg bands) in sizes A to Y. Aluminum ring sizes A to S are available in multiples of 10. Sizes T to Y are considered parrot sizes (the cost of parrot rings is slightly higher as they must be sturdier than rings for smaller birds.) Parrot sizes can be ordered and sold singly both in aluminum and steel. A small quantity of steel rings in sizes T to Y are kept on hand. Colors of rings are different each year. Closed rings are year dated, numbered and have letter size and AAC on them (they must be placed on the bird's leg at a young age, approximately one week but it does depend on the species).
